The Little King
Well, yes he is here... in my studio now waiting to be robed with some beautiful silk, fit for a king (literally). Today I have carefully traced out a pattern and sewn some pieces of dyed silk together. Tomorrow it's down to the business of creating some fine garb.
Don't forget the butterflies, which I have just decided today must be constructed from bright silks and the Lilliputian cloth for Gulliver's new coat. Oh yes, lots to achieve to pull this show together in alliance with Juet Sculpture. Its the final countdown........anyone thought about catering?

Journeys In - Journeys Out
Well, with two weeks to go until we hang the exhibition, it's probably time to start promoting it! The writing is a bit Lilliputian but the salient points are, Marty, Mike and myself will be having an exhibition of our work at Burrinja from 15 March to 15 April. The MOST important bit is that our official opening, which follows the Blake Prize opening is
SATURDAY 17 MARCH at 3.30pm

Gratuitous Plugs
Over the summer, I had lots of lovely ladies over to my place for a 'play date'. As well as getting our hands dirty in dyepots and colouring a variety of fabrics .......we shared. We did what women love (and need) to do...natter, swap experiences, talk about life and through that, support.
My thanks to CJ Baxter from who has her own fashion label, Twisted Fig and with hubby Brent, runs Limerence; to Gayle Burgess, a talented felter and artist; Margeret Griffin, a explorer of life; Nat Palaskas and her chum Jacky Williams, both highly creative beings and avid bloggers; mother and daughter team Marietta Herni and Deb Cotton, basketmaker and textile artist; Jillian Finch, local artist, Steiner teacher and felter, Sue Dilley and Barbara Hawkins, also members of Basketmakers of Victoria and serial work shoppers and chums Vanessa Ede-Scott and Belinda Broomhead, whose insatiable desire for investigating was an inspiration.

Thanks for spending time with me and I hope that our paths cross again soon. Now it's back to the drawing board (literally) as I have an exhibition to hang and those fabrics aren't going to arrange and sew themselves, no matter how hard I wiggle my nose.

Acknowledgement
Thank you India Flint for sharing your botanical alchemy with me at a workshop over two years ago at Three Stories Artspace in Healesville. Those two days were magical and ignited a flame in me which burns stronger every day. It has been remiss of me not to say these words before. So thank you from the bottom of my heart for setting me on this creative journey which makes my life sunny and replete.

A collaboration
Soon, almost too soon, I will be exhibiting my recent work at Burrinja with some good friends of mine. Mike Hyett and Marty Judd AKA Juet Sculpture and I have joined forces. This notion of collaborating was first conceived about 14 months ago when were at Upwey South Primary School's fete, as parents supporting the school. The sculptures animated the veggie patch and my fabrics fluttered in the gentle breeze and we chatted and chatted. As Juet work with recycled material and so do I, it was like a match made it heaven. The plan to dye fabrics with metals and then create sculptures has grown and morphed into Journeys in Journeys out, inspired by the ideas in Gulliver's Travels....and now it's all going on display at Burrinja!
OPENING DAY IS 17th MARCH at 3.30pm and being Irish I couldn't have asked for a better date!
